The European commercial space transportation sector is on the rise with projects progressing quickly and increasing amounts of private funding. The objective of Boost! is to promote and accelerate this to:
Partner with the most advanced commercial space transportation service providers
Support the deployment of European commercial and privately led space transportation services
Stimulate competitiveness, entrepreneurialism and growth of the European space sector
Empower industrial leadership to create new business opportunities and to access new markets
In a new service level approach, BOOST! offers support to private entrepreneurs developing commercially viable space transportation services.
ESA acting as a partner, not a customer
Benefit from world-class knowledge and access to test facilities
Zero equity co-funding, companies retain full project authority and intellectual property
Network with potential investors
Moreover, Boost! stimulates both new European launch service solutions and provide regular opportunities of affordable and responsive launch service for European “ready to fly” IOD/IOV satellites.
Europe’s Launchpad for Service Providers
ESA’s Boost! programme is geared to address all the needs of advanced commercial space transportation service providers, covering access to space, in space transport solutions, and return from space. Boost! also partners with primes offering support services to space transportation system operators.
Boost! support is a perfect asset for both innovative startups and established companies alike seeking to develop, deploy and operate competitive space transportation services. By fostering a supportive and collaborative agency-to-business relation, Boost! aims to propel European service providers to the forefront of the commercial space transportation industry.
There are two main programme elements offering funding and support opportunities in the Boost! Programme:
Commercial Space Transportation Services
Through the Commercial Space Transportation Services Element, ESA invites European entrepreneurs and their consortia who pursuing privately-led development for
commercially viable new space transportation services to submit their service projects. They can apply anytime through an open call, and ESA will evaluate if their proposals fit the criteria.
Flight Ticket Initiative
The Space Transportation Services Procurement Element, also known as the Flight Ticket Initiative, is a collaboration between the European Space Agency (ESA) and the European Commission, designed to bolster the European small launcher sector. This innovative framework agreement will finance launch services for In Orbit Delivery (IOD) and In Orbit Validation (IOV) missions managed by ESA on behalf of the European Commission.
This initiative foster competition within the European space system, stimulate new European launch service solutions, and provide regular opportunities for affordable and responsive launch services for selected IOD/IOV missions and potentially other EU missions. This initiative marks a significant step forward in ensuring Europe’s leadership in space transportation and technology validation.
