FLPP is designed to be flexible, fast-moving and open to a wide range of participants, whether you’re developing technology, shaping strategy or just exploring opportunities.

Help define future developments – even before beginning a project

FLPP often starts with a Call for Ideas published on ESA’s Open Space Innovation Platform (OSIP).

You can:

  • Share an early-stage idea
  • Receive structured feedback from ESA
  • Be considered for future pitch events
  • Help shape upcoming calls for proposals

Participation in OSIP is open to all and does not commit you to the next stage.

Submit a full proposal for funding and technical support.

Selected topics from Stage 1 move into formal Invitations to Tender (ITTs) on esa-star.

These are open to all participants from ESA Member States, regardless of OSIP involvement.

Successful applicants receive:

  • Equity-free contracts
  • Technical support from ESA
  • A year-long development timeline
  • Follow-up opportunities after the project

Each ITT has a clear scope and is aligned with FLPP’s strategic roadmap.

Meet the community and hear what’s next.

FLPP runs multiple open events throughout the year to share insights, discuss roadmaps and connect industry and institutional players.

Opportunities include:

  • Spring and Autumn Sessions: in-person events that gather the European SpaceTech industry
  • Pitch Days for early-stage concepts
  • In-person and online updates on project progress and strategy

Events are a key part of FLPP’s open development model — you don’t need to be under contract to attend.

Explore topics in more depth and help guide future developments.

You can also take part in targeted technical and strategic discussions. These help shape the context for future work.

Activities include:

  • Topic-specific working groups
  • Cross-cutting technology workshops
  • Matchmaking sessions with potential partners

Contribute to shared standards and long-term infrastructure planning.

The InSPoC Club is a community of developers, users and enablers shaping the future of in-orbit systems.

It supports collaboration on:

  • Refilling and logistics
  • Shared standards and interfaces
  • Operational needs across Europe

Club activities are open to all relevant stakeholders and support coordination beyond individual projects.
