Through Boost! 3, ESA is implementing the European Flight Ticket Initiative together with the European Commission.
The Flight Ticket Initiative provides co-funding of launch opportunities to European companies and organisations to fly their services and test new satellite technologies in orbit.
Ready-to-fly IOD/IOV (In Orbit Demonstration / Validation) satellites benefiting from the initiative are identified through a Call for Satellites.
The calls are open until 15th March 2026 with cut-off dates on:
- May 31st 2023, 18:00 (CET); – Closed
- March 15th 2024, 18:00 (CET); – Closed

The Flight Ticket Initiative for IOD/IOV missions will use exclusively European manufactured launchers co-funded through the EU Horizon Europe programme and the ESA Boost! Programme.
The first Launch Service Providers contracted under the Flight Ticket Initiative scheme are Arianespace, Isar Aerospace, PLD Space, Orbex and Rocket Factory Augsburg. These European launch services providers will be able to compete for specific work orders for identified launch service needs.
